社会个案工作 social casework
早在19世纪末期，在美国就有专职“友好访问者”(friendly visitor)深入到家庭、集体中，进行道德再建和消除贫穷的工作。后逐渐成为一种职业。他们深入到家庭之中，以促进每个人满足社会生活，帮助这些人解决困难。常用的方法有行为矫正、家庭疗法、危机干预和成人社会化等。这些人所从事的活动，便是社会个案工作。
